The offshore trolling logbook that shows which lures actually land fish
LureRater is a logbook app for game fishing anglers who troll lures for marlin, tuna, mahi mahi and wahoo. Log each strike with the lure, spread position, hook and ocean conditions. LureRater then ranks your lures and hooks by how often they convert strikes into landed fish, and suggests your next spread from your own results.
A$1 a month or A$10 a year.
What LureRater does
- Log strikes in seconds: lure, size, spread position, hook, species and whether the fish was landed or lost.
- Records the conditions for you: GPS position, time, sea surface temperature, tide, moon phase and cloud cover are added automatically to each strike.
- Ranks lures and hooks by strikes and landing rate, so you can see what works rather than guess.
- Builds your spread: set up the day's lines across the corners, riggers and shotgun, save spreads by name, and get a suggested 5-lure spread based on your own history.
- Built-in lure catalogue covering Pakula, JB Lures, Bonze, Tantrum, Nomad and Halco models, colours and sizes. You can also identify a lure from a photo.
- Works offshore: strikes logged without signal are saved on the phone and upload when you're back in range.
- Trip reports: share a photo with your trip's results drawn on it.
Common questions
Does LureRater work without phone signal?
Yes. Your logbook is kept on the device, and strikes logged offshore are queued and synced automatically when you have a connection again.
Do I need an account?
No. LureRater doesn't ask for a name, email address or login. Your data is linked to a random identifier stored on your device.
How much does LureRater cost?
When it launches on the App Store, LureRater will cost A$1 a month or A$10 a year.
Is there an Android version?
The iPhone app is coming first, on the App Store. An Android version for Google Play will follow.
Which spread positions does it track?
Short and long corners, short and long riggers (port and starboard) and the shotgun, so you can compare how each lure performs in each position.
Is my fishing data shared?
Your logbook stays linked only to your device. To understand which lures work, LureRater combines strike results into anonymous totals by lure brand, model, size and colour. These never include device IDs, GPS positions, location names or photos. Sharing data for community statistics is a separate choice and is off by default. See the privacy policy.
